Apple has recently initiated the rollout of the iOS 18.2 Developer Beta 1 update for iPhone, enhancing its suite of Apple Intelligence features. This update introduces tools such as Image Playground, Image Wand, and Genmoji, which expand upon the functionalities previously launched in the iOS 18.1 beta. Despite these new features being available, many users find themselves unable to utilize them as they must complete a registration process for early access, which has not yet been completed. Apple has now confirmed that it will begin granting early access to these features in the upcoming weeks.
According to a notice on the Feedback Assistant site, those who have downloaded the iOS 18.2 Developer Beta 1 can join a waitlist for advanced access to features like Image Playground, Image Wand, and Genmoji. Users will be informed when access is available in the “coming weeks” to allow for testing of these capabilities.
The company stated that feedback will be encouraged, as users can provide a thumbs up or thumbs down alongside each result to aid in improvement efforts. This feedback mechanism applies not just to the iOS 18.2 Developer Beta 1 for iPhone but also extends to the developer betas of iPadOS 18.2 and macOS Sequoia 15.2 for respective iPad and Mac devices.
Staff from Gadgets 360 have verified that utilizing the new Image Playground feature, driven by Apple Intelligence technology, indeed necessitates early access that has yet to be granted, despite the update being issued a few days ago. In this instance, the approval for joining Apple Intelligence arrived within hours of a request.
The iOS 18.2 Developer Beta 1 update presents a novel Image Playground application with diverse functionalities. A key addition is the feature bearing the app's name, which uses generative AI to produce images from textual prompts. Additionally, the Image Wand functionality allows users to convert rough sketches into related images within the Notes app. Genmoji serves as another tool powered by Apple Intelligence, enabling the creation of customized emojis from user prompts. These unique images and emojis can be shared through applications such as Messages, Notes, and Keynote.
This update also integrates ChatGPT with Siri, thereby enriching the voice assistant's capabilities. Users can now leverage Siri to gain more comprehensive answers to their inquiries. Furthermore, it can provide detailed insights into photos and documents and has the ability to create images from voice prompts. Additionally, the AI model has been incorporated into the current Writing Tools, allowing users to refine text or compose entirely new messages by employing descriptive prompts.
