Apple has unveiled its Podcasts web application for desktop, now accessible through popular browsers like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. This update expands the availability beyond macOS, allowing iPhone users to enjoy their favorite podcasts on Windows systems. This update comes after the launch of the beta version of the Maps web application, which allows users to browse and find business listings via their browser on both mobile devices and desktop computers.
The Podcasts web app can be found by navigating to podcasts.apple.com. It offers the same features as the Podcasts app available on Apple's devices. Users can delve into a multitude of podcast genres, including true crime and news, listen in different languages, and browse the latest top charts.
Compatibility extends to Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox for Macs, PCs, and various other platforms. Users can access their current listening habits by logging in with their Apple ID. The application includes sections like Home, Browse, and Top Charts, alongside a search option situated in the left panel, while media controls for play, pause, and other features are conveniently located at the top. Users also have the option to choose their region, tailoring content to their local area.
Through the new Apple Podcasts web app, users can manage their Up Next queue, access saved shows, and explore the extensive podcast library via the browser. Additionally, it supports paid podcasts to which they might already be subscribed. This means listeners can seamlessly transition from enjoying podcasts on their iPhones or other Apple devices to their Windows desktops when they wish to.
If users access the Apple Podcasts website while having the app installed on their iPhone, iPad, or Mac, they will be redirected to the native application instead of the new web platform, ensuring a cohesive experience across their devices.
