Johnny Depp seems willing to return as Jack Sparrow in a different Pirates of the Caribbean movie, even after saying he would never take part in the Disney series again.
In a recent chat, Depp was asked whether he would like to play Sparrow once more. He said he wanted the saga to end on a stronger note, likely pointing to the last movie being a letdown for many viewers and critics.
If the project is in the right place and the story can be wrapped up properly, he said the only part he truly wants is to help give the franchise a better ending. He added that he would work with Jerry Bruckheimer again without hesitation, saying their friendship gives him trust and confidence in the producer.
During his legal dispute with Amber Heard, Depp had said he would not return for a new Pirates movie, even for a huge payday and an unusual pile of extras. That stance now appears to have eased, something that has been reported for some time. Bruckheimer has said on multiple occasions during the last few years that he has spoken with Depp about another Pirates film, though nothing has been finalized. A script is reportedly being developed, and the producer hopes to secure Depp’s return.
This is the first time Depp has openly stated that he is open to considering the idea again since rejecting it in 2023. Disney had also been looking at a Pirates of the Caribbean project led by Margot Robbie, but that version has not moved ahead in a meaningful way. Depp has not had many major blockbuster roles since the legal clash with Heard, and He also departed from the *Fantastic Beasts* franchise series after the libel case involving a UK publication. Mads Mikkelsen took over that role for the third film, which became the final entry.
Depp is now preparing for a new interpretation of A Christmas Carol in the film Ebenezer, which arrives on November 13. Whether Jack Sparrow will sail again is still uncertain, but Depp clearly sounds more open to the possibility than he did before.
