Xbox's 27 Million Reports in Six Months: Only 10% Result in Action

In the latest Xbox Transparency Report, Microsoft has shared some eye-catching statistics about player reports and moderation. Over six months in H2 2023, Xbox players filed over 27.4 million reports. Surprisingly, only a fraction of these led to enforcement actions, raising questions about the quality and nature of these reports. The report disclosed that 12.7 million of these reports were related to in-game or on-platform communications. Despite the high volume of complaints, only 2.1 million reports led to enforcement actions, representing less than 10% of the total. The data also highlighted specific areas where enforcement actions were most frequent. Around 693,000 enforcements were issued for harassment or bullying, while 551,000 were due to adult sexual content.
